Session 3 Technologies on Census-taking

  • Kam Tim Chau Assistant Commissioner, Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong, China Tim Chau is the Assistant Commissioner overseeing the Social Statistics in the Census and Statistics Department of Hong Kong, China. He leads the Office of the 2021 Population Census to develop and implement an integrated strategy for data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of the Population Census, with information technology widely adopted to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Savy Surumpudi Chief of the Methodological and Software Development Branch, U. S. Census Bureau Sarveswara Surumpudi is Chief of Methodology and Software Development Branch in the International Programs at the U.S Census Bureau. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT). He currently leads a team that develops CSPro (Census and Survey Processing System) software and provides technical assistance to statistical offices around the world to implement data processing solutions.
  • Vrushali Warade Joint Director (Census), Office of Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India Ms. Warade is posted in the Office of Registrar General, India (ORGI) since March 2007 and at present working as Joint Director and looking after the work of activities related to Population Census. Before joining in ORGI, she was working in Directorate of Economics and Statistics and associated with the work of Gross Domestic Product/Per Capita Income etc.
  • Lhagvatseren Dulmaa Referent, National Statistics Office of Mongolia Ms. Lkhagvatseren Dulmaa (Seren), referent of the Information technology Department, National Statistics Office of Mongolia is working as a programmer since 2006 in the Information technology department. She is responsible for developing data processing application for official statistics and implementing tablet technology on sample surveys and administrating database.
    She has experience on database management and application development for official statistics, such as Demographic, Socio economic and Industrial sectors, implemented tablet technology on Household based sample surveys; which are Household Socio Economic Survey, Social Indicator Sample survey, Labour Force Survey and Data processing on Population and Housing census 2010, 2020 and other statistics.

Session 4 Census Taking Experience of 2020 Round of Censuses

  • Yoichi Inagaki Director of International Cooperation Section, Statistics Bureau of Japan Mr. Inagaki Yoichi is the Director of International Cooperation Section, Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ). He has actively engaged in various international statistical cooperation, including promoting Official Development Assistance, international exchanges and introduction of ICT in developing countries. Furthermore, he played important roles in the area of economic statistics such as Economic Census.
  • Edgar Vielma Orozco General Director of Sociodemographic Statistics, National Institute of Statistics and Geography, Mexico Edgar Vielma Orozco, Director General of Sociodemographic Statistic, at the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) in Mexico. He is responsible for the Census of Population and Housing, the measurement of employment, occupation and labor informality; monetary and non-monetary income of households, as well as the variables that measure the households overlapping deprivations; the vital statistics of birth and deaths, among other topics related to the sociodemographic sphere. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Guadalajara (UDG) and a Master´s Degree in Economics from Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM). In the academic field, he has been a professor in the Department of Mathematics at UDG.
  • Tserendulam Ichinnorov Statistician, National Statistics Office of Mongolia Ms. Tserendulam Ichinnorov has been working as statistician for Population and Housing Census Bureau of NSO Mongolia since 2011 to until now. Her career was begun for working on the result of 2010 Population and Housing Census. She successfully organized and developed the methodology and questionnaire of dwelling census 2019 which was conducted within the framework of 2020 Population and Housing Census. She participated all steps of 2020 Population and Housing Census, preparation, data collection, data development and dissemination.

Session 5 Census Data Dissemination

  • Vu Thi Thu Thuy Director of Population and Labour Statistics Department, General Statistics Office of Vietnam Ms. Vu Thi Thu Thuy is Director of Population and Labour Statistics Department of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. She has experience on questionnaire design, applying advanced modes of data collection for surveys, data analysis and data dissemination. During 2018-2019, she has leaded to implement 5th Population Census in Vietnam successfully with 99,95% filled in questionnaires by electronic devices (CAPI and Online). Due to the innovation, the census data has been released 1 year earlier than traditional method and save the cost for nearly 40%.
  • Le Thi Phuong Mai Population and Development Specialist, UNFPA Vietnam Ms. Mai currently is in charge of the UNFPA project supporting Viet Nam in providing and utilizing quality population and development data and evidence to develop and monitor socio-economic development policies, strategies and plans, and SDGs in Viet Nam. She provided and coordinated technical support to the General Statistics Office in conducting two Population and Housing Censuses in 2009 and 2019, and other household surveys (inter-censal population and housing survey 2014, internal migration survey 2015), focusing on data analysis and dissemination.
  • Chi Ho Chan Statistician, Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong, China CHAN Chi-ho, Ronald, Statistician of Census and Statistics Department of Hong Kong, China, is responsible for planning and implementation of face-to-face and telephone interview under multi-modal data collection approach, macro editing, data analysis and dissemination of 2021 Population Census.
